About the Cabin

Crampton Gap Cabin is a late 19th century stone house with a 1955 kitchen and bath addition. Located on the eastern slope of South Mountain it has a fine view overlooking a vineyard and then out over the Catoctin Valley to Catoctin Mountain ridgeline about 6 miles away. It is the only PATC Cabin which sits on the edge of a Civil War battlefield. Cabin renters have easy access to the well preserved 19th century town of Burkittsville, Maryland just a short way downhill, or the Appalachian Trail which passes through Gapland State Park just one half mile to the west.

The inside of Crampton Gap cabin shows two twin beds in a room with quilts and bedding.

For more information on this and other PATC cabins, we recommend acquiring and reading a copy of our PATC Cabins Book.
