Over 150 PATC members registered for VolunteerFest October 10-12, 2025, to celebrate, cultivate, and connect with PATC members interested in learning more about our amazing volunteer opportunities. The weekend was a resounding success! Read about it in our upcoming November newsletter.
This year’s “Fest” was a cozier atmosphere using Caroline Furnace’s Moyer Lodge, where attendees could linger over coffee meeting new acquaintances and purchasing PATC store items. Click here for a list of all the activities we offered. Below is a summary:
Friday Registration, exploration of the Caroline Furnace camp, Appalachian Trail Trivia with prizes, singing around the campfire.
Saturday A sunrise hike, then a full slate of educational sessions, discussions, and hands-on orientations. A Town Hall led by the PATC president, vice presidents and staff director, followed by a celebration of volunteer achievements, awards, and a speech by John Hedrick, the recipient of the prestigious Myron Avery award. After a hearty barbeque dinner, another campfire with music and camaraderie which lasted well past midnight.
Sunday Departure and day hikes in nearby recreation areas.
