Our Mission

Since 1927, the Potomac Appalachian Trail Club’s mission has been to protect the lands encompassing the Appalachian Trail and the surrounding Mid-Atlantic region. Through conservation and land management, education and outreach programs, and volunteer efforts, we strive to maintain the integrity of outdoor spaces for future generations to enjoy.

Our Vision

We believe that everybody deserves to take up space in the outdoors, and our goal is to foster a diverse community of outdoor lovers. PATC creates opportunities for all people to get outside and get involved in our conservation efforts through volunteer experiences and outreach programs.

Our Values

PATC values the lands and trails we recreate on and is committed to maintaining and preserving them for future generations.

PATC values accessibility in the outdoors and is committed to providing resources and opportunities to get outside for the public.

PATC values the hard work it takes to maintain and preserve trails, lands, cabins, and shelters, and is incredibly grateful to the dedicated volunteers that make our mission possible.

PATC values Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion, within the organization and in the outdoors community, and is committed to furthering DEI initiatives by providing education and resources for staff, volunteers, and the public.
