Supervisor of Outreach
I am applying for a position on the PATC executive committee because I believe that my background, skills, and passion for public service align with the mission and values of this organization. My career has been dedicated to tackling some of the world's most pressing issues, and I am eager to bring my expertise in artificial intelligence ethics, climate policy, and strategic communications to support PATC in navigating today's complex global challenges.
As someone who has worked across both Republican and Democratic circles—through my experience with the Joseph Rainey Center and the Biden-Harris transition team—I have cultivated a bipartisan approach to problem-solving. This has given me a unique ability to engage diverse stakeholders, which I believe is crucial for the success of PATC's initiatives. I am committed to advancing pragmatic solutions that can appeal across the political spectrum and drive meaningful change in areas such as climate resilience, outdoor education, and conservation.
I believe that AI has the potential to revolutionize the way people experience the outdoors. By integrating AI into tools like trail navigation, environmental monitoring, and even personalized outdoor recommendations, we can make nature more accessible and engaging for everyone, whether they're first-time hikers or experienced outdoor enthusiasts. AI can help identify safe, sustainable routes, provide real-time environmental insights, and inspire more people to connect with and protect our natural spaces.
I see an opportunity for PATC to expand its outreach based on my experience. What does that mean in practice? It means connecting with local gardening communities across our properties, engaging outdoor groups like the Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts, and collaborating with international partners who, like us, are adapting to the impacts of climate change. My vision for PATC over the next 10–20 years is for it to stand as a community of climate resilience—one that educates others on sustainable practices in our areas and ultimately becomes a community that can withstand the climate impacts that are coming. I believe partnerships with groups in the American Alps and the European Alps will help us achieve this goal.
Relevant Experience
Furthermore, my extensive experience in communications and my ability to bridge gaps between sectors—government, academia, and the private sector—equip me to be an effective advocate and leader within PATC. I see the executive committee as a critical platform where I can contribute to shaping policies and initiatives that advance environmental stewardship and community well-being.
Thank you for considering my application. I look forward to the opportunity to contribute my insights and leadership to the PATC executive committee and to help steer the organization toward continued success.
