Do you have experience leading teams or organizations? PATC has about 850 volunteers who like the hands-on work, and being outdoors to give back and make a difference. There is a lot of work that must be done, and just as important work managing the people and programs through which that work gets done. Leadership positions at PATC include elected officers (on the Executive Committee –ExCom – of the board (Council), other council members, district managers, committee chairs, and chapter leaders.
The duties of leadership positions include managing the people and programs, partner relations, budget management, volunteer recruitment, and reporting for your management area.

Leadership roles usually take more time than non-leadership roles. Depending on the leadership role, expect 5-10 hours per week on the lower end and up to 40 hours a week on the higher end (e.g. Club President). ExCom and Council positions will have 2-4 hours of meetings per month. All leaders will meet regularly with their teams, provide direction, resolve issues, manage schedules, and recruit new volunteers. Leaders are expected to comply with and support all PATC and land manager policies.
Administration
PATC has several day-to-day functions at headquarters in Vienna Virginia including membership, trail management, IT, cabin reservations, communication, store management and accounting. If you would like to help run our business operations, we have interesting volunteer opportunities for you.
Headquarter volunteer positions are very flexible and can be tailored to your schedule and location. Many of the roles can be accomplished at home.
Headquarter volunteers will report to the staff leads and the staff director and must comply with all PATC policies and procedures.
