This Victorian cottage-style home, erected in 1887, is adjacent to Harpers Ferry National Historic Site in WV, and sits just up the hill from famed Jefferson’s Rock where the former president once sat to enjoy the view. Donated to PATC by Kathryn Fulkerson in 1962, Highacre is a standout, modern home, equipped with a kitchen, bathroom, four bedrooms, and a living and dining area that overlook the marvelous view. Sleeping arrangements include a queen bed, a double bed, and four single beds. Note that daytime occupancy is not to exceed 25, and the age of the home demands that it be treated with great respect. Hikers can follow the C&O towpath, visit the local historic venues, or stop at the headquarters of the Appalachian Trail Conservancy. Please note that pets are prohibited.
