About the Cabin

This primitive log cabin, constructed in 1871, is located in Cunningham Falls State Park, just west of Thurmont, MD. Complete with a living area downstairs and sleeping arrangements for 4 upstairs, the close proximity to the William Houck Camping Area allows access to canoe and small boat rentals for use on Hunting Creek Lake. Access the cabin by a brief walk from the parking area. Hikers can walk along the Catoctin Trail or explore the trail systems in Cunningham Falls State Park and Catoctin Mountain Park. Note: Depending on the season, black snakes may be spotted around or even inside the cabin. Black snakes help mitigate the rodent population and deter other venomous snakes, and should not be harmed.
