Supervisor of Trails
I have learned a great deal in my first term as the SOT, and want to continue the work of supporting the work of the trail maintainers, improving and protecting the 1200 miles of PATC maintains and strengthening our relationships with our Land Pardners. A part of PATC’s strength and backbone is its volunteers. And they must be supported with the resources they need to keep trails in excellent shape as the SOT I am in a position to do this. As a member of EXCOM I am committed to supporting the President goals of strengthen the club through the Clubs reengineering effort, and implementing those policies and processes to make these things become a reality.
Relevant Experience
I have been a member of PATC and volunteer for 20+ years – 15 years apart of Council/EXCOM. I started out as a member of the South Mountain crew and after my 2008 AT Thru-hike I became the Maintainer of Annapolis Rock on the AT and shortly later became a maintainer on the Catoctin Trail. When the District Manager stepped down I became its DM. As member of Council and EXCOM I have worked with numerous Federal, State, and Local Land Pardoners on complex trail and land issues. I have firsthand knowledge of the workings of the Club e.g. staffing, financial, trail, cabin issues, and a strong background in the Cooperative Management System involved with the AT working with ATC and Federal, State, local organizations. I also currently serve as a Crew Chief, Boundary Monitor, Trail Patrol and Trail Talker.
In my professional life, I was a Project Manager. As a volunteer, I have served for over 30 years in a number of leadership positions for the Appalachian Trail Conservancy, a profession organization (Project Management Institute) and the Boy Scouts. I received the Myron Avery award in 2012.
